Die Vrystaatse invloed

Ultra-stoppe in Kroonstad en Bloemfontein en die vrouemonument was my seuns se idee van die Vrystaat. Ek het boonop 'n Vrystaatse vriendin wat liries kan raak oor goed wat ek glad nie sien nie en ek het net geweet die seuns gaan meer van die Vrystaat leer tydens hulle studies. James is nou klaar geswot en ek weet nie of sy indrukke verander het nie, maar William het nou tydens die vakansie kans gekry om bietjie meer van die "platteland" gedeelte te ontdek. Met die vakansie het hy 'n paar dae saam met Tessa op die plaas gaan kuier. Hier is sy "storie" met bietjie kommentaar van my af. I went with Tessa to their farm for 10 days. We stayed at the school "koshuis" the first two days because her brothers and sister still had school. Standing in a foodline was something new too me. (darem onthou jy een afrikaanse woord seun en het jy vergeet van die voortrekkerkampe se kosrye). On our way to the farm, Nelie (Tessa's sister) got the present i bought her in Abu Dhabi in January and she was very happy about it. The next day we had to go watch Tessa's two younger brothers pariticpating at a athletics competition. Peet in the high jump and Johan in the 1500 m. Back at the farm it wasn't all fun and games. One of the bulls came back to the farm, in pieces and we had to make wors. First we had to cut the meat in smaller pieces. Peet is trying a new meat mask which will hit the stores soon. (Ek is seker jy het die besigheidsmoontlikhede gesien, maar jy weet mos mens speel nie met kos nie). After making the wors its time to test it. Tessa busy packing some of the wors. Of course there was some fun too. I got to be a cowboy (seun boere dra mos nie jeans en waar kry jy die hoedjie)and had to chase bulls around and count cows all from the back of a horse, now that was an experience. Just want to say thank you to Tessa's family for a great time!
